Ever get those times when you just don’t feel like smiling? Perhaps this is because you’re having a bad day or something unexpected happened. It’s okay to have times like these, but wouldn’t it be nice if we were able to end each day of our lives with a smile on our face? Not a forced one, but a genuine smile. Here are four ways to curve your lips into a smile daily.
Get a Good Laugh
You may not want to laugh when you’re in a bad mood. The fact is you might not find anything funny at all. But that shouldn’t stop you from making this day better. Find a way to make yourself laugh. There’s always something that will tickle your funny bone. It can be watching a funny video or watching your favorite comedy show. If you know what it is, do it, or if you don’t have any ideas, get a friend to make you laugh. We all have that friend who knows just what to do to make you crack into laughter even at your worst moods. Why you want to do this is because a good laugh always makes one feel much better. You’ve probably experienced moments where you’re in a really bad mood and something happens that makes you laugh so hard you’re crying tears of joy. That is a good laugh and often after that, you’re mood is lifted and you feel much better.
Chat with a Friend
Talk to a friend. It doesn’t have to be a conversation about your problems, it can also be about how great your day went. The simple act of sharing and exchanging a conversation with someone is enough to put you in a good mood. If it’s about problems, you’ll feel better because you were able to share it with someone and if you’re the one being shared to, you’ll feel better because you helped a friend by listening and being there. If it’s about positive things in your life, the feeling is obviously positive because you’ll witness great things happening to the lives of you and your friend.
Appreciate What You Have
Appreciate what you have may it be material things, people who are in your life, skills you’ve acquired, and events in your life that made you who you are. When you are more aware of your blessings and you are thankful to have them, you will accept problems easily and embrace them thereby making it easier to solve since you’ll approach it with an open mind. Also, knowing what things you’ve achieved will give you a great sense of fulfillment that you’ll have courage and confidence to take on anything that you’ll come across. Hence, you won’t become as stressed when you encounter problems and you’ll treat it as an opportunity to learn something new.
Reward Yourself
Treat yourself to something nice. Make it a point to give yourself rewards at the end of the day. It doesn’t have to be something you buy. It can be relaxing or watching your favorite show on TV. Allow yourself to relax and feel comfortable at the end of the day. You worked hard all day, hence, you deserve a nice little treat.
These are just some of many ways to make yourself smile on a daily basis. There are methods that immediately make you smile and others have long term effects and sustain a happier mood. Do some research and adapt what fits your preference.
